BIO

Andrew Leventis (b. 1980, Charlotte, NC) received a BFA in Painting from the American Academy of Art, Chicago, his MFA in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and an MA in Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London. Leventis is a former resident artist of the McColl Center for Art + Innovation, Charlotte, North Carolina and was featured in Issues #148 and #154 of the New American Paintings magazine in 2021 as one of 40 applicants chosen from a competitive pool of 1000. Leventis makes meticulously detailed oil paintings of contemporary vanitas, a motif popularized in early still life in which food, flowers, and other perishable objects represent the fleeting nature of life and the passing of time. 

He has exhibited internationally at museums and galleries, most recently at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Krakow, Poland; Novilla, Berlin; the Mint Museum Uptown, Charlotte, NC; SOCO Gallery, Charlotte, NC; the Venice Arsenale, Italy; and York Art Gallery, UK. He lives and works in Charlotte, North Carolina.
