SOCO GALLERY IS HIRING

SOCO Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Sales Director to join our growing team. This multifaceted leadership role will include working closely with the Owner and Managing Director in Charlotte, NC along with travel to art fairs throughout the US.

The candidate should have existing and meaningful relationships with collectors and institutions, and a history of initiating and closing sales of both primary and secondary market artworks.

Position requirements:

● 6-10 years gallery, museum, art organization or auction house experience in a sales position
● In depth knowledge of contemporary art and market landscape and trends
● Owning and hitting/ exceeding monthly/annual sales targets
● Developing and executing strategic plan to achieve sales targets, cultivate existing collectors and identify and expand new collector base
● Actively developing relationships with collectors artists, art galleries, art fairs, collectors -including constant touch points (dinners, lunches, coffees, studio visits etc)
● Strong communication skills with external relations and internally with team, both verbal and written
● Leading and motivating sales team, including sales training, and driving/ presenting weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual sales goals
● Representing the gallery at events, art fairs, etc.
● Background in every step of art sales process from introduction, proposals, commissions to invoicing, shipping, insurance, artist relations, contracts
● Working closely with Gallery Manager to document all artwork entering and leaving the gallery, art fairs, project spaces
● Reporting on sales targets, strategic direction of sales and potential new markets/ collectors
● Willingness to travel and work off site for art fairs, studio visits and special projects throughout the year
● Applicants must be mature, self-confident, personable and possess gracious and strong social skills
● Creative and proactive problem solving abilities
● Ability to see projects through to completion and prioritize important “to do’s” independently
● Efficient and collaborative work style
● Google Drive proficiency

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Working closely with the Gallery Manager and Managing Director on daily operations and sales priorities. Communicating openly with Owner and other advisors as needed
● Development of robust multi-year sales strategy
● Collector relationships and development
● Management of all sales and art fairs
● Manage all art fair applications and preparations
● Oversee social media, website and online sales outlets
