Lizzie Cheatham McNairy, author of Matrons & Mistresses, a blog devoted to highlighting women in the arts, interviews Shara Hughes at her Brooklyn studio. Hughes explains how her steadfast devotion to “keep painting and put that first always” has contributed to the last few years of sold-out national and international exhibitions, inclusion in the Whitney Biennial 2017, acquisitions from numerous prestigious museums and collectors, and the recent publication of her first monograph of landscape paintings.
